Spend the night homeless, for the homeless
Saturday, November 10 to Sunday, November 11
at Manahawkin Lake Park.
Sponsor individuals to spend the night in a box, so someone else won't have to.
Clothing and Canned Food Drive
Clean, gently used clothing and canned or non-perishable foods
will be collected between 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Saturday, November 10 at the park.
Last year we had 65 people spend the night "homeless" at Manahawkin Lake Park in order to raise awareness of the homeless situation in Southern Ocean County, as well as collecting donations to meet their needs.Through your efforts we raised in excess of $4500 to support local shelters. We also collected 100 large bags of clothing for Atlantic City Rescue Mission and over 800 food items, which were shared with local food pantries.
This year, Shanty Town will benefit the Southern Ocean County Community Resource Center.
Southern Ocean County Community Resource Center is a faith-based non-profit organization whose purpose is to collaborate with the community in order to assist the displaced and impoverished population by partnering with them in offering temporary housing, training, mentoring and services.
